‘They get what they pay for’: 16-year-old refuses to babysit his three younger siblings because parents won't pay him, leading to a discussion on favoritism

When you're a teenager with younger siblings, it's impossible to ignore favoritism shown toward specific children. It's almost like some parents make a point to be obvious about which child they prefer, and this is pretty messed up when you're the oldest and do the most around the house. When you've finally had enough, you shouldn't feel bad about putting your foot down. At the end of the day, you'll get nowhere if you keep letting your family walk all over you.

The teen in this story has had enough. He's the oldest of four children and does more chores than them, likely because of the age gaps between him and his siblings. The kicker: His younger siblings are compensated for the chores they do while he is given nothing. When his parents ask him to babysit the kids overnight, he refuses. They believe they're entitled to free childcare because they're his parents, but he expresses that he is never paid for all the work he does. The double standard is astonishing.
